This work builds off the Handshakes series, both literally being etched on the same plate and also focusing on the histories of treaties and exchanges of power. This etching is based on an image of “President Grant’s Cabinet Table” from the White House’s collection. The table is currently in the White House Treaty Room, and many “important agreements” have been signed on it. Prints of this etching have been torn and then pieced back together, building a broken and elongated version of the table.
